Current Market Drivers:
⚔️ Renewed US-Iran hostilities reinforce concerns about a prolonged stalemate, while QatarEnergy’s extension of force majeure on LNG deliveries into Nov-26 signals the Northern Hemisphere may enter winter 2026/27 without Qatari LNG. Some outlooks suggest TTF could approach €100/MWh in a cold winter scenario.
🚢 Analysts warn that Iran’s restrictions on 45 vessels, including LNG carriers, raise the risk of detention, cargo seizure and attacks, reducing the prospect of a near-term return of LNG supplies and supporting LNG prices.
🌡️ Extreme summer heat, drought and low river flows are exposing vulnerabilities in Europe’s energy system, disrupting nuclear, gas, coal and hydropower generation simultaneously and highlighting persistent challenges to summer power dynamics.
📉 The International Gas Union expects global gas demand to contract by 0.2% (7 bcm) this year, its first decline since 2022, due to Middle East supply disruptions.
☀️ European renewable generation is expected to outpace demand growth in 2026 and 2027. The IEA forecasts that European solar generation will grow by 15% and wind output by 9% in 2027.
